Page 4 of 15 Homeower Desi Kepe works off his garden violation mixing mortar for his new edging. Shirley uses a plumb line to keep the stone edging straight. The Design Plan: The design plan for the Kepe's is a modern, contemporary garden with a plant pallet of contrasting foliage plants in gray, green and white. We tossed in a little red in key places to infuse some color to the landscape. Michael and I decided to use a grid pattern in the planting diagram and even created a grid pattern in the new Marathon Sod, lawn area, breaking up the green with paver squares. The design called for a lot of specialized work and we asked some experts to join our team to execute it. Some of the projects included: - Create a new patio sitting area using manufactured concrete pavers provided by Thompson Building Materials in different sizes.
- Custom texturizing and painting of the pavers by concrete specialist, Todd Souza of Souza Concrete who came all the way from Sacramento to Los Angeles to help us with this project. Todd went the extra mile and customized the existing hard scape to match the new patio.
- Installed an inviting outdoor fireplace to the patio using a unique modular fireplace made by Mirage Stone. The designer of the fireplace, Jim Mensik, Mirage Stone of Sacramento also joined us and explained all the steps to putting it together.
- Created a privacy screen between the Kepe's yard and the next door neighbors by planting a row of tall trees and using trellises and vines.
- Added a soothing fountain from Al's Garden Art to enjoy from the new patio and along the entryway to the house.
