Notes:  Homeowner Gene Muoio wanted to surprise his wife Stacy and their two boys with a new backyard that reflected Stacy’s equestrian tastes and offered a low maintenance garden. I designed a hitching post focal point in the center of the new bed decorated with a wagon wheel and edged with cobble and raised just a bit to sit higher than the new decomposed granite footpath. The beds were filled with ornamental grasses that grow no taller than 2 feet and native plants and groundcovers that contribute color and texture. I even found a dwarf pampas grass that wouldn’t overwhelm the borders! Boulders of various sizes dot the new landscape.
