A Word From Shirley:
So, what do you think? Have you thought of a water-wise garden for your yard? I am a real fan of xeriscape design and am redesigning my own yard in this fashion. Focus on foliage, texture and interesting shapes. Michael and I used the Tolleson's Weeping Juniper as a dramatic accent for this yard and made sure to include complimentary plants that cascade, clump, spike, billow and weep. Gardens are not just about flowers but color is important and you can work this in with interesting foliage. I design many water wise gardens in my private design practice. Try adding some low water plants in your garden instead of annuals next season. It's a baby step toward a full commitment. Take a look at some gardens I designed for my clients in my private practice in Los Angeles where saving water is a big issue.
