Notes:  Gene liked the idea of a path flowing through his new garden. I emphasized that a garden is more enjoyable when it is accessible and interactive and he agreed. Hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, songbirds and all sorts of creatures also are attracted to the new garden! The “D.G.” paths were carved out first and lined with a heavy weed cloth to retard weed growth, a precaution that though not 100% weed proof, absolutely essential. Four inches of decomposed granite was added then watered lightly and compacted with a tamp.
